Clarion Desktop is more than a website. It includes a program which Clarion Developers can install, in order to see the following..
In addition to that, Clarion Desktop also displays..
Last night I released Clarion Desktop version 4.10.
This build includes a significant fix (relating to the ajax code that I added to 4.09), and is also the first version of Clarion Desktop to be compiled using Clarion 6.3.9058 - I've been using 9056 for the past couple of months.
If you find any regressions please let me know asap. Thanks!
Three things surprised me at last night's local Clarion User Group meeting.
First, 18 Clarion programmers attended!!! I had no idea there were so many of us in a single country.
Second, of those 18 developers only 5 had heard of Clarion Desktop! That's 27.8%!
Considering that there are currently 762 Clarion developers who use Clarion Desktop, does this mean that perhaps 762 is only 27.8% of the total number of Clarion programmers on earth? Could there in fact be 2,744 of us!?
But the third surprise was the real shocker..
How daft is this?!
Clarion Desktop can detect which 3rdParty products you own, it can notify you when new updates are available for those products, it can download, archive and install those updates for you, it can even enter the installer passwords for you! But..
When suppliers login to the ClarionDesktop.com website they have to enter their login passwords manually!
I finally corrected that this morning. From now on Firefox will enter your login password for you.
I spent some time this weekend building an Instant Messenger module for Clarion Desktop!
It's still rough around the edges, but it's working quite nicely. I'll be releasing it later in the week.
I'm also going to make some changes to the "Clarion Bloggers" module to indicate more clearly which blogs the various headlines are coming from.
Clarion Desktop 4.09 is available for download!
I've created a new section to display the latest posts from a variety of Clarion bloggers!
To kick things off, this new area will display posts from ClarionFolk, as well as Clarion-related posts from StrategyOnline.
I've just added a link to ClarionLife.net to Clarion Desktop's Links menu. This will be included in the next release.
I also recently added a link to Gus' new blog.
I'm thinking it's time to either expand the Groups menu, or simply delete it. Any thoughts?
Now that Clarion Desktop has its own fancy website, it made sense to change the "Latest Clarion Desktop News" block to stop showing RSS headlines from Strategy, and to rather show the headlines from ClarionDesktop.com.
So, as of 20 minutes ago, that what's happening!
Clarion Desktop now has 702 users!
I seem to recall that 700 was my "dream number" when Clarion Desktop was released many moons ago..
It's exciting to see so many Clarion developers using a tool like Clarion Desktop. Heck, it's exciting to see so many Clarion developers! :)
I'm aiming to release a new build of Clarion Desktop next week, which will possibly include some new features that I've been working on.
More news to follow!
We now have forums here on the ClarionDesktop.com website. Please feel free to participate.
